Exploring the Impact of My Working and Educational Experience: A Personal Journey

In today's fast-paced and competitive world, educational achievements combined with practical experience are vital for shaping careers and broadening industry perspectives. This post shares my journey through the educational programs at Johns Hopkins University and Iowa State University, complemented by impactful internships that have enhanced my skills and knowledge in finance.


Educational Background


Johns Hopkins University, Washington DC, US


Since starting my Master's program in Finance at Johns Hopkins University in August 2023, I have experienced significant intellectual and professional growth. The curriculum is structured to help students analyze complex financial scenarios effectively. Some highlights include:


  • GPA: 3.6/4.00

  • Selected Courses: Empirical Finance, Private Equity, Accounting Financial Reporting, Managing Financial Risk


These courses have significantly strengthened my understanding of theoretical finance. For instance, studying empirical finance helped me analyze market trends using real data, improving my analytical skills while learning about private equity has given me insights into how firms fund their operations through investments.


Iowa State University, Iowa, US


Before pursuing my master’s degree, my undergraduate education at Iowa State University from January 2020 to May 2023 provided a robust foundation in finance.

  • Selected Courses: Microeconomics, Managerial Accounting, Supply Chain Management, Corporate Finance, Investments, Introduction to Fin & Crypto, Management Information Systems

The achievement of a perfect GPA and multiple scholarships reflects my dedication and potential in the field.

Internship Experiences


SunStar Dental Laboratory, US


My internship as a Business Analyst Intern at SunStar Dental Laboratory from June 2021 to August 2021 was crucial in honing my analytical and research abilities. Responsibilities included:


  • Extracting data from monthly financial statements to analyze dealer profitability and cash flow.

  • Conducting variance analyses to identify financial trends and performance discrepancies.

  • Using Python for reporting and developing strategic investment suggestions based on my findings.


This practical experience improved my ability to interpret financial data and appreciate how organizations formulate and implement financial strategies.


Haitong Securities Co. Ltd., Shijiazhuang, China


Following my time at SunStar, I worked as a part-time Account Manager Assistant at Haitong Securities from November 2021 to January 2022, allowing me to gain a global perspective on finance. Key insights from this role include:


  • Gaining knowledge of the securities market fundamentals, including trading, investment funds, and technical analysis.

  • Understanding current trends influencing the securities industry, such as the impact of recent state policies on market dynamics.


This opportunity deepened my understanding of various investment avenues and highlighted the need to stay informed of regulatory changes that can affect the finance sector.

Merging Education with Real-World Experience

Working on real-world projects during my internships allowed me to apply theoretical concepts from my studies. This hands-on practice transformed abstract ideas into real-world applications, reinforcing my knowledge and skills.
